39 weeks!

My grandma said to me the other day, "No one in our family has been pregnant for this long."  Apparently she gave birth around 38 weeks, as did my mom with both me and my brother.   Violet was born between 37 and 38 weeks, but this baby might potentially be an elephant.  Did you know that an elephant's gestation period is 22 months?  I think about that when I get frustrated with being pregnant.  But seriously kid, come on out already!

38 Weeks!

I am in uncharted territory here since I never reached 38 weeks when I was pregnant with Violet.  After spending 2 hours in my doctor's waiting room, he informed me that my cervix is closed.  However, he did suggest that I go into labor on Sunday since that's a nice day for him to take a stroll in the park (Lenox is next to Central Park).

We wait...

July 4th!

This was the first Fourth of July that we didn't spend in the Hammies, but it was a great day nonetheless.  We spent the morning strolling Cobble Hill, Brunching at Chez Moi and just enjoying some quality family time.  In the afternoon, we crossed the bridge and headed into Staten Island for some BBQing, splashing in the pool and hanging out with our families.
It's great seeing the kids grow up together and watching their love for each other continue to grow.  This was especially evident when I witnessed a very tender moment between Ari and Violet yesterday.  Violet was playing with an empty bottle of bubble solution and getting frustrated that no bubbles were coming out.  Ari just happened to be passing by and noticed her annoyance.  He came up to her and said, "Violet, there is no soap in there. Go ask mommy to fill it up for you.  We have tons of soap at home."  It was the sweetest thing to hear such compassion from such a young boy.  I was even lucky enough to capture  the moment on film.

36 Weeks! (roughly)

At this point it's a bit hard to tell where I look bigger. How do you compare huge vs. huge?  I am officially full term today and I am going to spend the day cruising the web and brushing up on my labor and delivery knowledge.  Although all I really need to know can be summed up in one word: EPIDURAL!!!!

Baby #2 (37 weeks)

Swimming Class at the YMCA

A few weeks before my due date I waddled over to the YMCA with Gene and Violet for her first swim class.   It was a big hit and once the class was over, Violet proclaimed, "Again!"  They sang songs and learned the basics like paddling, kicking and blowing bubbles.  Fun times all around!
