Is it my Birthday Today?

For the past few weeks it seems like every day is someone's Birthday at Violet's daycare.  The kids all get sent home with a giant cupcake and for the rest of the evening the parents have to deal with wired and sugar infused toddlers.  Besides that one little down side, I also have to continuously try to answer the question, "Is it my Birthday today?"  The first time this question came up, I thought about the best way to answer and said, "Violet, your Birthday isn't today.  It's on April 7th."  The only little problem with that response was that Violet has no concept of time, so April 7th might as well be Shlovember 39th.  I thought some more and added, "April is two months away and it's during the Spring time, so you will see a lot of rain and maybe some flowers blooming."  Unfortunately, this didn't get us much further either.  The next day, I once again heard, "Is it my Birthday today?"  To which I replied, "No, honey it's not your Birthday yet." Violet proudly exclaimed, "Mommy, it's in two months!"  This made me realize that she probably thinks 2 months is actually tomorrow.  The following day, I was once again faced with, "Mommy, is today my Birthday?"  To which I cheerily replied, "Yes! ♫ Happy Birthday to you....Happy Birthday to you...♪ "

Goodbye Lexi

Remember this post?  Can you believe it's been three years since we leased our Lexus? Of course you can believe it, why wouldn't you?  Anyway, yesterday we had to say goodbye to our baby girl and I have to admit, I was a little sad.  Actually it was kind of bitter sweet to tell you the truth.  On one hand, I hated that car.  It was small and slow (4 cyl.) and unresponsive.  When I hit the gas it would continue to crawl at a snail's pace and it felt like minutes before it would go at least 50 mph on the highway.  It was so crappy that it was discontinued just a year after it was released.  Gene still claims it was a great car, but I am pretty sure he's just saying that to contradict me.  All those things aside, that was the car which brought both our girls home from the hospital, so I can't help but get just a little emotional.  In fact, I was so attached to her that for a second there we almost leased another Lexus.  Luckily a moment of clarity came along and we leased THE most amazing ride!  Please help us welcome Jeep A. Klayman (aka JAK or Jackques if you're French) to our family.  Jeep was born in 2013 and weighs a whopping 6,500 lbs and is over 76 inches long.  Dad, Mom, Violet and Ivy are thrilled to welcome him into our family.

In Loving Memory of Lexi (2010-2013)

Logic 101

Whenever I ask Violet why she is doing something that she isn't supposed to be doing, her response is, "Because....(and then she just repeats whatever I said)" Here are two examples of actual conversations.

Me: Violet why are you eating jelly beans for breakfast?
Violet: Mommy, it's because I am eating jelly beans for breakfast.

Me:  Why did you take off your skirt in school?
Violet: Because, I take it off in school today.

How do you argue with that kind of logic?

Le Boobie

6 months, 14 days, 7 hours, 23 minutes and 51 seconds.  That is how long Ivy had the pleasure of dining at her favorite 2 Michelin star restaurant.

Unfortunately, due to change in ownership, Le Boobie had to close its doors.

No new plans have been announced for Le Boobie, but one can speculate that it will no longer be a dining establishment.   Many neighborhood residents suspect that under new management, Le Boobie's popularity is likely to deflate.
