The Green Eyed Monster
I was sitting on the couch while Violet was tumbling and jumping dangerously close to my belly. After a few gentle kicks and punches to my midsection, I raised my voice and told her that she has to be careful around my stomach because the baby can get hurt. She was NOT happy about this "baby" business so she started crying and attempting to beat my stomach with her fist. Oy, this is definitely going to be an adjustment.
Mother's Day Extravaganza
I can't believe this is already my third Mother's Day. Wow, time flies! Each year, Gene and Violet have managed to make this day more and more special. I woke up Sunday morning to a delicious breakfast in bed, followed by a very exciting scavenger hunt. The first clue led me into the shower, where I found a beautiful macaroni necklace and yet another clue. My second location was the kitchen where I discovered yet another beautiful piece of jewelry (homemade salt crystal bracelet) and a note that ultimately led me to Violet's crib. Inside her crib I found a pair of gorgeous Chanel sunglasses that I have been eyeing ever since they came out this Spring. They were accompanied by a card that Violet picked out and colored. If that wasn't enough, the sneaky duo also surprised me with gorgeous flowers from Fortune Flowers. They did the flowers for our wedding and I absolutely adore their arrangements. What a perfect Mother's Day... I couldn't ask for more!

Season Opener
It's that time of the year again...summer! Technically Summer is still more than a month and a half away, but we have unofficially started the season off by visiting Hither Hills beach, reassembling our trampoline, rolling out the grill and of course no season opener would be complete without visiting Goldberg's Famous Bagels. Just the thought of their sunflower seed flagels makes my mouth water.
Even though the weather on Saturday wasn't ideal, that didn't stop me from making my famous pineapple shrimp kabobs. I use the term "famous" loosely as this was the first time I made them. The recipe I made up was super simple. Marinade (peeled and deveined) raw shrimp in fresh lime juice, a clove or two of finely chopped garlic, cilantro, olive oil and salt and pepper (for 30 minutes), then place on a skewer by alternating with cubes of pineapple and grill until shrimp are fully cooked. Delicious! Even my father-in-law (who doesn't like shellfish) tried a few! Violet also tried the kabobs and said, "mmm, shrimp" but opted for munching on grilled potatoes instead. She really loves her weekends at the summer house and getting to wake up super early (6 am!!!) to see mom and dad right there in the room with her. This is a very rare treat and she takes full advantage by climbing into our bed and snuggling with us while playing with the tablet or our phones. The weekends fly by as there is always something to do: beach, playground, duck pond, trampoline, grilling, movies or just visiting the town and strolling the streets with ice cream in hand. Here are a few pics of a lovely first weekend in the Hammies.
