Toddler Exchange Program

Toddler Exchange Program. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. Every Friday we either get two toddlers or give two toddlers. The goal of this program is to give parents a much needed date night without having to spring for a sitter. It's so brilliant, I wish I was the one who came up with it.  The best part is that the girls who come over (Zoe and Kylie) are already great friends with Violet and Ivy so they spend the evening entertaining one another, making our job pretty easy. We just need to feed them and sometimes change a diaper or two.  Below are a few shots of inaugural Friday .

Bath Time Bubbles

Happy Birthday Gene!

My eternally young husband turned 31 this year and this also marks the 8 year anniversary since we met.  Time flies when you're raising kids!

Uncle who?

Violet:  Mommy, I have two uncles: uncle Pee Pee (Peter?) and uncle Poopie.

Bronx Zoo

Here are a few of my favorite shots from our recent trip to the Bronx Zoo. Ivy was camera shy that day.

Let Me Take a Selfie

Spoiled? Nah!

Scene set up: Violet was watching TV in our room while I was picking out her outfit for school.

Me: Violet, it's time to get dressed.  Your clothes are on the couch in the living room.  Please go and get ready.
Violet: Well, mommy, you have to either bring them to me here or you can carry me into the living room. Those are your two choices.
Me: Hmm, why didn't I think of that?  Here I thought you were just going to get up and go into the living room by yourself and put on your clothes.
Violet (grinning from ear to ear): Silly mommy.

Silly mommy indeed....

Working Mother's Guilt

The other day Violet said, "mommy when you are at work I miss you so so so much."  Then that statement was followed by a big hug.  She didn't say this when I dropped her of at daycare or even during a weekday.  It was just on some random Saturday morning and completely out of the blue. Seriously kid?  You just stabbed me and then turned the knife a few times.  I wonder if she learned these manipulation techniques at daycare because she's good. She's real good.
